A Quick Note
You need to register on the main page of the site before viewing the files in The Family Files section. If you try to access those files without being logged in to the main site, you will end up on a page that tells you to log in and than invariably you will end up sending me a message asking for a user log in for the Family Files. It's That Time of Year

October 15, 2007 — Mary McIndoe (Views: 890)
It’s almost Halloween and that also means that it’s almost time for the New Windsor Spirited Legends and Tales walk, coming up on Saturday, October the 27th, starting at 6:30PM and ending at 9PM. Each tour will last about 45 minutes and will cover numerous sites of interest in the historic section of New Windsor. All tours will start from the New Windsor Heritage Museum at 207 Main Street. For those who would like a bite to eat first, the Youth Group of St. Paul’s Church will be hosting a spaghetti dinner from 5:30 on in the church Fellowship Hall.Tickets are available at all branches of the New Windsor State Bank and will also be available at the Museum on the night of the walk. Prices are as follows: Adults - $8, children from 4 to 16 - $4, children under 4 - free

I’ll be taking part in the tour as a storyteller, so come on out and say hi!

About This Site

Welcome!

Carroll County, Maryland is not only my home, it is a historic adventure! My name is Mary McIndoe and I've lived in Maryland all of my life, though most of my family roots are from a bit north in Pennsylvania.

When I first moved to Carroll County in the early 90's, my focus was still on my Pennsylvania roots, but as I have come to know the people of this area, I have also spent a lot of time learning their history. In many cases, their roots have also come from Pennsylvania, and it has been fascinating to make those connections.

Rather than simply being a site filled with my own family lines, I am concentrating on providing records for all of the lines that I have come across for the area and to that end, am seeking to put records online that are seldom seen anywhere else. as a related goal, I am photographing the headstones in many of the local cemeteries in Carroll County and tying them into the actual family records in the Family Files section, as I think that will be far more useful to researchers.

This site makes use of several main sections to share data: the Forums, this Wiki, the Family Files, and the Data section. Though all may see the Forums, in order to post to the Forums, you will need to register on this site first - there's no cost to do so and it will enable you to participate more fully, so please join us!

At this point, most of the data on this site is contained within the Family Files section, our very large online family tree section.

Local Artifacts
From Drew Strine, one of New Windsor's residents, came this addition to the artifacts collection at the New Windsor Museum, a very nice sample of a patent medicine bottle from the New Windsor pharmacy while run by Louis H. Dielman.
